Here's a fabulous poem written by a member of Gateway staff who wishes to remain anonymous
Lockdown One Spring
Rushing around to and fro
All of a sudden had to go
The world came suddenly to a standstill
Like we'd never seen before
The elders guided to stay indoors
The rest of us to do our chores
To keep each other safe
The traffic slowed down
Not a sinner in town
All doing our best
Forced to take rest
Children not understanding why
Schools were closed
And days passing us by
But not all was lost
We stood and watched by
While cherry blossomed and birds flew
We noticed each other
And in our minds we grew
Grew stronger each day
Our connections we cherished
Even in all of those who'd perished
Community spirit made our hearts warm
The giving, the hearts, in all of this storm
This sure was an awakening
What we'd left and what we'd forsaken
But like any silver lining in a cloud
We done our best
And made our country proud
We did it together
Each one and all
No matter how big or small
So let us take a moment
Out of every day
To make our lives matter
In every way
Sometimes the things that happen
Can never be explained
But what we learn
Of ourselves and life
Can surely be maintained
