Meditation with Simone

Here's another great Meditation recording with tutor Simone!

Hello from Simone,
I hope you are doing fine.

Today's meditation is a meditation with different rattles and shakers.
Please listen with headhpones if you can.
This meditation is an invitation for fine tuning your Sound awareness with different rattles & shakers.

May you sense different elemental qualities as you listen to the sound: a grounding sound, an active fiery sound, a light airy sound or a flowing soothing sound. And also note how these different sounds make you feel in your body.

Enjoy!
Practical experience:
Where in your environment do you recognize sounds with different qualities and how do they make you feel?
Do they make you feel tense or relaxed? Is it a loud or a quiet sound?
If a sound makes you feel uncomfortable what could you do to let go of this discomfort?
You might sigh in a sense of "breathing out the discomfort" or hum along with the source of sound that makes you feel uncomfortable. See what happens and how you feel.

Competition Entry 2

We asked members what they're looking forward to after Lockdown, here's the second entry!

Reconnection

I am really looking forward to taking a Bus journey to the seaside to have a 99 and enjoy being around people in the sunshine. Take a trip to the Botanical Gardens and visit the tea rooms. Meeting up with family and friends, visit the Cinema and get a lovely bucket of butter popcorn and a coke. Go to the 3Arena and enjoy my favourite artists. Sit by the Airport and watch the planes land and take off. Play music with Friends and meet up with other like-minded people in social groups. Take off down the country on holidays. Take the Boat to Holyhead, a plane over to Spain, watch the football at the Aviva Stadium. Get back on track and follow my dreams, the thing I’m looking forward to most is getting a hug and sharing the love.

Meditation with Simone

Hello from Simone,
I hope you are doing fine.
I recorded another guided meditation accompanied with relaxing sound of tuning forks.
Please listen with headphones for a good sound quality, especially to hear lower sound of tuning forks.
Please sit or lie down for this meditation.

Today's meditation is a meditation with tuning forks.
It is also an invitation to hum along with the sound of the tuning forks.

Humming is much more than a self-soothing sound: it affects us on a physical level, reducing stress, inducing calmness,
and enhancing sleep as well as lowering heart rate and blood pressure and producing oxytocin, the “love” hormone.

Practical tip:
If you find yourself in a stressful situation or low on energy just start to hum. It doesn't need to be loud. Just so loud that you can hear and feel it. You can do it almost everywhere. You can hum one tone or a melody. Give it a try. Enjoy humming!

Meditation with Simone

Here's another Meditation class from our tutor Simone. Hope you enjoy it!

Hello from Simone,
I hope you are doing fine.
I recorded another guided meditation accompanied with relaxing sound of Tibetan Singing bowls.
Please sit down for this meditation. Ideally listen with headhpones for better sound quality.

Today's meditation is a loving kindness meditation.
It can boost well-being and reduce stress.
Those who regularly practice loving kindness meditation are able to increase their capacity for forgiveness, connection to others, self-acceptance, and more.
This technique is not easy as you are asking yourself to send kindness your way or to others. It often takes practice to allow yourself to receive your own love or to send it.
Stay well, breathe and smile

Competition Entry 1

We asked members what they're looking forward to after Lockdown, here's the first entry, it's from a member who wants to remain anonymous.

First of all I hope it will happen soon. At the beginning it was a bit strange, all the shops and bars and restaurants closed like overnight! There was a virus. I was glued to the 6.1 news daily. I started cooking again as my boyfriend and me used eat out  a lot! So I guess we are looking forward to meeting up again after the Covid. Of course I watched a few good DVD films! Thank God for the lovely weather, we are blessed. After the Covid, I'll be the first person to get on the Sligo train! As I really really miss my nephews and missed one of their Birthdays. I am going to give them loads of hugs and kisses. I miss Dad too and my three sisters and having a good catch up! I am sure everyone misses Gateway.  The lovely chats. And all the tea and coffee and cakes and biscuits! I miss all my friends there and that they are ok. I enjoy Gateway everyone is so nice and friendly. Lots of best wishes to everyone!

Another great Meditation recording from our tutor Simone, hope you find it relaxing!

Hello from Simone,
I hope you are doing fine.
I recorded another guided meditation accompanied with relaxing sound of Tibetan Singing bowls.
Please sit down for this meditation. Ideally listen with headhpones for better sound quality.
This meditation focuses on coming out of your mind and more into your body, which has a very grounding effect.
The invitation is to visualise a wonderful tree, get to know the qualtities of this tree and "breathe" with the tree.
Allow yourself to be open to this type of meditation and enjoy.

Poem

Here's a fabulous poem written by a member of Gateway staff who wishes to remain anonymous

Lockdown One Spring

Rushing around to and fro
All of a sudden had to go
The world came suddenly to a standstill
Like we'd never seen before

The elders guided to stay indoors
The rest of us to do our chores
To keep each other safe

The traffic slowed down
Not a sinner in town
All doing our best
Forced to take rest

Children not understanding why
Schools were closed
And days passing us by
But not all was lost

We stood and watched by
While cherry blossomed and birds flew
We noticed each other
And in our minds we grew

Grew stronger each day
Our connections we cherished
Even in all of those who'd perished

Community spirit made our hearts warm
The giving, the hearts, in all of this storm
This sure was an awakening
What we'd left and what we'd forsaken

But like any silver lining in a cloud
We done our best
And made our country proud

We did it together
Each one and all
No matter how big or small

So let us take a moment
Out of every day
To make our lives matter
In every way

Sometimes the things that happen
Can never be explained
But what we learn
Of ourselves and life
Can surely be maintained

Meditation Class with Simone

Hello from Simone,
I hope you are doing fine and enjoy the sunshine we get these days.
I recorded another guided meditation accompanied with relaxing sound. This time I am bringing in the relaxing beat of a drum. Even though the beat seems to be quiet fast it has a very relaxing impact on us.
This meditation focuses of letting of tension in your body and replacing it with a feeling of relaxation. It's best to lie down on a mat (yoga mat) or the comfort of your own bed for that meditation.
While you listen to the drum beat try also to sense if you can feel the drum beat in your body and how it makes you feel.
Enjoy this meditation.
