Hello Members!

The Disability Pride and Power Parade is back on Sat 20th July!

Will you join us?

Image shows the disability pride flag in the background and reads in bold black, pink and white letters: “We’re Back!” The words “Disability Pride and Power Parade” are in pink with black outline, and bellow in yellow writing, “Sat 20th July 2024”, 2pm Garden of Remembrance. At the bottom of the photo is an image of colourful participants in the parade from 2023, carrying signs with the pride flag which reads “Disability Power + Pride”. In the top right corner is the Disability Pride and Power Parade logo.

Dear Members,

This month is Disability Pride Month! This is the second year of the pride parade. The theme for this year’s parade is “Power in Unity”.

The disability rights’ movement in Ireland has a lot to celebrate this year following the success of the Scrap the Green Paper Coalition Campaign and the Care Referendum, which showed the power of collective grassroots action and what we can do when we work together, in movements that are led by and centred on the marginalised group themselves, with the support of allies.

The parade this year will highlight this strength in numbers and the importance of allies both disabled and non-disabled from within our movement and from other social movements.

Because achieving disability rights is a necessary step for the liberation of us all.

Details will be updated to their website (disabilitypride.ie) and on Eventbrite here.

You are welcome to attend their Costume and Banner Making Session in Mud Island Community Gardens on Wednesday 17th July in Mud Island Community Gardens from 4 - 7pm to prepare posters for the march with the aid of Baubo Theatre.

Hope to have you join us!
