Info about the NeuroPride Festival!

The 4th Annual NeuroPride Festival is here again and the festival will run from the 1st -8th August. This year an eclectic range of events have been organised based on the interests of the community. Organisers hope there's something there for every neurodivergent adult. The festival is aimed at Neurodivergent adults but we encourage neurotypical adults to attend those events open to all and share in our joy.

The theme for this year's festival is Neurodivergent Passion and organisers encourage community members to submit art work, poetry, written work or whatever they would like to share on this theme. Neuro Pride is a celebration of neurodivergent (ND) culture and identity, and a chance for neurodivergent people from all communities and walks of life to learn from each other and build connections through a wide variety of online events, as well as for allies to learn more about what it means to be neurodivergent and how they can best support and celebrate the ND people in their own communities.

Since the first festival, Neuro Pride Day has begun to be celebrated in other countries around the world, and our community has grown strength by strength and is involved in many other areas including education and advocacy. For more information on all that we do please click here

It would also be great if you could use your platform to signal boost the festival so that it reaches ND people connected with you who might not yet have heard of the festival. Full month of July 2024 Schedule

Month of July 2024 by Gateway Project on Scribd

Disability Pride is back!!!

Hello Members!

The Disability Pride and Power Parade is back on Sat 20th July!

Will you join us?

Image shows the disability pride flag in the background and reads in bold black, pink and white letters: “We’re Back!” The words “Disability Pride and Power Parade” are in pink with black outline, and bellow in yellow writing, “Sat 20th July 2024”, 2pm Garden of Remembrance. At the bottom of the photo is an image of colourful participants in the parade from 2023, carrying signs with the pride flag which reads “Disability Power + Pride”. In the top right corner is the Disability Pride and Power Parade logo.

Dear Members,

This month is Disability Pride Month! This is the second year of the pride parade. The theme for this year’s parade is “Power in Unity”.

The disability rights’ movement in Ireland has a lot to celebrate this year following the success of the Scrap the Green Paper Coalition Campaign and the Care Referendum, which showed the power of collective grassroots action and what we can do when we work together, in movements that are led by and centred on the marginalised group themselves, with the support of allies.

The parade this year will highlight this strength in numbers and the importance of allies both disabled and non-disabled from within our movement and from other social movements.

Because achieving disability rights is a necessary step for the liberation of us all.

Details will be updated to their website (disabilitypride.ie) and on Eventbrite here.

You are welcome to attend their Costume and Banner Making Session in Mud Island Community Gardens on Wednesday 17th July in Mud Island Community Gardens from 4 - 7pm to prepare posters for the march with the aid of Baubo Theatre.

Hope to have you join us!

Check out Arches new programme!

ARCHES Recovery College July August September 24 Programme by Gateway Project on Scribd

Arches are delighted to announce their Brand-New Programme of courses, talks, peer support, and social events for July, August, September 2024 (see Programme attached). There are two exciting new additions: 1. The Nearby Nature Project (starting Tuesday 9 July). This project aims to develop a mindfulness-based nature connection walk along the Dodder River using the ‘5 pathways to nature connection’: Contact, Beauty, Meaning, Emotion, and Compassion. We are seeking people to participate in workshops to create 5 wooden plaques that invite passersby to connect to nature. 2. The ARCHES Social Hub (starting Wednesday 10 July). This group will meet weekly for an hour and a half to offer people opportunities to be social (on their own terms). When we meet, we plan and take part in activities together (e.g. day trips, tea and coffee sessions, and social events), discuss what’s important to us, and offer each other mutual peer support. In addition to these innovations, we are also offering a host of other courses and events, that help people: • manage anxiety, • shop and cook healthily, • enhance resilience by using strengths, • learn about ARCHES by attending an Open Day, • understand and advocate for Trauma Informed Care, • validate the experience of ADHD and the Autistic Spectrum, • practice mindfulness and other activities that restore, nurture, and energise, • and use creativity to make sense of psychological distress and connect with others. For anyone who would like to know more about what a Recovery Education course is, and what to expect from attending our service, please watch the video below about our Willow course for family members, friends, and supporters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_gEJBobhJc&t=1s Willow is taking place this September in Avila House, Blackrock (see the Programme for more details).
