I am delighted to let you know that Aware are opening their
Solace Café this coming Friday, 24th May.
The café will be opening on a phased basis, with a full
service intended from late June onwards.
The café will be operating out of Urbun Café in Cabinteely,
and on Thursdays to Sundays from 5-10pm. (The actual Urbun Café will be
closed to the public during Solace Café operating times, the Solace Café team
are merely using their premises)
It is intended for any adult experiencing a mental health
crisis, supporting someone in crisis or experiencing a mental health difficulty
that is causing emotional overwhelm or a feeling of being unable to cope. The
friendly Solace Café team will welcome you in a warm, supportive environment
and support you through listening, signposting and crisis resolution skills.
Please do book ahead on the day through their website
solacecafe.ie (website operational from Friday!) – this is to ensure that the
service isn’t crowded in any particular moment and everyone gets the attention
they deserve.
The Solace Café is delivered by Aware in partnership with
St. John of God’s Community Mental Health Services and the HSE and I am truly
thrilled it is finally happening. It will be a most wonderful addition to
mental health services offered in the area, and a great alternative to A&E
during mental health crises that don’t require medical attention.
