You are cordially invited to Amnesty International Ireland's Mental Health and Human Rights Hearing. The event will take place at The Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7 at 10am on Tuesday 31 May 2011. It is an all-day event and will finish by 4.30pm.
The right to mental health is about more than just mental health services, it is also about the rights that promote good mental health. In Ireland, people with mental health problems face barriers that stop them enjoying their right to education, work, suitable housing and social welfare.
The Hearing will hear from people directly about their experience in these areas. A listening panel expert in national and international human rights law, will offer feedback and make general recommendations to the Irish Government. Government representatives will be invited to present on their work on mental health.

The Minister of State for Disability, Mental Health, Equality and Older People, Kathleen Lynch will address the event.
This is an exciting opportunity to hear from others and add your voice to the debate. The findings from the day will be submitted to the Government.
