Mental Health Reform - Grassroots Forum


Mental Health Reform are looking for nominations to their Grassroots Forum.

Aim and objectives of the Grassroots Forum
The Grassroots Forum is being established to strengthen Mental Health Reform's links with people who have experienced a mental health condition, families and significant others. The Grassroots Forum is being established as a permanent method of participation within the coalition in order to contribute to the formation of policy positions and to assist the coalition in actively engaging stakeholders in its campaigns.

The objectives of the Forum are to:
  • Advise Mental Health Reform on its policy positions;
  • Alert Mental Health Reform to issues arising for people with a mental health condition, their families and significant others;
  • Support media work for Mental Health Reform actions; and
  • Help Mental Health Reform to engage with other people directly affected by mental health conditions.
Activities of the Forum
The policy of MHR is set by its Board; advisory group feedback will be conveyed tot eh Board for consideration. Members of the group will:
  • Attend Forum meetings (3 per year)
  • Alert Mental Health Reform to issues arising for people with mental health condition, their families and significant others.
  • Provide feedback on policy positions and campaign messaging both in person and via email.
  • Assist in planning four regional consultative meetings annually
  • Provide advice on engaging people with fist hand experience of mental health conditions families and other concerned about mental health in Mental Health Reform’s campaigns.
  • Disseminate campaign material and advise on dissemination strategies
  • Attend regional consultative meetings (1 per year)

Members of the Forum will be nominated by Member organisations of Mental Health Reform and will participate as nominees of their organisation. As a member organisation of Mental Health Reform we are invited to nominate one person with direct experience of mental ill health.
