It is Pride Month Again!!!

With it's origins stemming from the American Stonewall Event of June 28th, 1969, this annual global event celebrates the diversity of the LGBTQ community while also drawing attention to the barriers and obstacles this international community still faces today, so many decades on.

As in previous years, Gateway will be doing it's own Pride celebration (details to follow), but to find out what is taking place in Ireland this year, check out the link below.

Pride's values firmly align with those of Gateway's by way of social inclusion, empowerment and social change.

Calling all James Joyce fans (or those just looking for something new/fun to do in June)

Ireland's Bloomsday Festival is on this month - 12th -18th of June.

Bloomsday is named after the protagonist Leopold Bloom from Joyce's seminal work Ulysses, which was published in 1920. The book is internationally considered to be a landmark literary achievement. Joyce used the model of Homer's The Odyssey to uniquely journey the trials and tribulations of the everyday man. Joyce invented the stream of consciousness style of writing through this work.

At the Bloomsday Festival, participating members of the public will dress up in Victorian era clothing, as Joyce himself or as various characters from Ulysses.

To find out what is happening as part of the festival this year, check out the link!

The film 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'

is out in cinemas now and deals with the subject matter of depression, finding one's path/meaning in life and family relations in a very original way. There are comedic elements to provide levity to the heavy topics.
